Hello Seniors!
I write to you with much excitement, because we are approaching our final two months as CNU students! It's hard to believe that four years ago we were all moving into York, Santoro, or Potomac – with the green wall around the DSU, Gaines Theater still in full operating capacity, the library being the size of a shoebox, and with Tuesdays and Thursdays at the old Regattas consisting of chicken parm subs in the afternoon and the "breakfast for dinner" meal at night.
With that being said, we have seen many senior classes go before us, and now it is our time; our time to be seniors, our time to be on the way out, our time to have ridiculous research papers, and our time to leave a legacy. The three graduating classes before us have left us many memories, many experiences and many friends. Although these previous classes have left gifts of funding and scholarships, none of them left the campus a tangible gift. Let us be the first class in our time here to leave a tangible gift, a concrete memory, a legacy.
Our gift has been chosen, with many thanks to those of you who contributed input. It will be an indoor clock in the DSU "street." We will actually be combining with the classes of '02 and '06 to complete this clock project, as it is something they once strived for as well. Let's make the third time the charm, and have this clock in place by time we walk across the stage at Pomoco Stadium on May 17.
The fundraising goal has been set at $4,000. This is a relatively small figure, and a figure that a class of about 1,000 seniors should have no problem attaining. For those of you who do contribute, your name and a personal message will be printed in a Class of 2009 In Honor/In Memory Booklet, distributed to guests during commencement week. Also, the President has indicated that if we have a strong contributing percentage of seniors, those who contribute will be invited to the President's new house for a senior reception.
Please consider what you can do to make this goal a reality. To learn more about the Senior Class gift, check us out on Facebook – Class of 2009 Senior Gift.
Good luck with those research papers, presentations, and finals – May 17 will be here before you know it!
Regards,
Chris Inzirillo
President, Class of 2009
